Possibly you have heard that Zakynthos is a beautiful island. We could describe it with elegant expressions such as “heavenly island with lacy seashore in the clear blue waters of the Ionian». Or we could emphasize on our artistic inclinations as “a place of poetry, romanticism, theater, music and love".
Or our rich past by mentioning names such as "Homer", the "uprising of the populace" and many more. We could also titillate your palate with strong spicy cheese, tasty meat and fresh fish or put you in a good mood with clubs, bars and beach parties. Or challenge your adrenaline by hiking, cycling, diving or by taking part in extreme sea sports.
And of course the most photographed beach in Europe, Navagio or Shipwreck Beach is an exposed cove, sometimes referred to as "Smugglers Cove", on the coast of Zakynthos, in the Ionian Islands of Greece. Navagio Beach was originally known as Agios Georgios. On 2 October 1980, a freightliner, the MV Panagiotis, ran aground in the waters around Zakynthos Island on Navagio Beach during stormy weather and bad visibility. It has been rumored the ship was smuggling contraband such as cigarettes, wine and women.] The ship was abandoned and still rests buried in the limestone gravel of the beach that now bears the nickname Shipwreck
For all these reasons visiting Zakynthos once is not enough. Every time you will discover something new, unique and defiantly exciting.
